E-Mail:
Salutation:
- addressing the professor: "Dear Jun.-Prof. Dr. Danny Kowerko" or "Sehr geehrter Jun.-Prof. Dr. Danny Kowerko"
- addressing lecturers without academic titles: "Dear Mr. Schlosser"
- if the lecturer offered you to be less formal: "Hello René"
Subject:
- should make clear what your intention is, e.g. "Request for exam review", "Technical problem in Opal with download of lectures", etc.
- if you reply to an email, your text should be related to the content of that email
Text:
- try to be short, i.e. straight to what is your intention (we receive 20-40 emails per day and are grateful if emails are short)
Complimentary close:
- keep it short and simple, e.g. "Kind regards, (your name)", "Best regards, (your name)", etc.
Professor/Lecturer does not answer:
- allow us 1-7 days time for reply
- if it is more urgent call us; the numbers are on the website of Junior Professorship Media Computing, callforward is often active as we are working in homeoffice which means we are open to be contacted via phone, however, we prefer email as it is easier to keep track of things that way
- if you did not receive any response within that time, write us again and refer to the email you have written before (subject and date) in the text+
Gleichstellung / Discrimination:
- If required, anonymous inquiries are also possible via this contact form:
https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/informatik/fakultaet/gleichstellung/contact.php
Webroom/BigBlueButton:
- Tutorials of how to use can be found on Youtube or elsewhere
- Turn off video to save bandwidth
- Use a headset, if you want to speak actively. Speakers lead to echo effects for the others
- Mute your microphone to avoid background sounds (most probably, your microphones will be muted by the moderators/lecturers initially)
- Use your real names
- Be respectful
- Use the common chat only for relevant questions
- directly write into the public chat without salutation
- if you would like to speak, raise your arm by setting your user status to "raise" (click on your own name --> set status --> raise)
- if the lecturer does not take notice of your chat message or "raised arm" and it seems urgent, unmute your microphone and say: "Excuse me..." or "Sorry to interrupt..."
