Master Course: Current Topics in HRM

Summer Term 2024

This course aims to convey knowledge of current trends and topics in HRM.

Instructor: Jun.-Prof. Dr. Sebastian Störmer

Objectives: Students are introduced to and learn about currently pertinent subjects and related challenges in the management of human resources. Based on this, students become prepared and are enabled to tackle such challenges in their future corporate careers. Furthermore, the seminar imparts critical knowledge with regard to academic writing and presenting central findings in accordance with scientific standards.

Topical Focus:

In the 2024 summer term, the topical focus is: Generation Z in the Workplace. To provide answers to their research questions, students will conduct interviews with Generation Z members.

Evaluation: Seminar paper incl. presentation/discussion

Exam requirements: To pass the course, students have to work in teams and produce a joint paper and present their central findings. In their presentation and paper, students are expected to demonstrate a profound knowledge of the current foci topic and to systematically apply this knowledge.

Expected prerequisites: Fundamental knowledge of business administration, in particular regarding HRM, equiv. to completed Bachelor studies/ ”Grundstudium”.

Application: Students enroll for the course in OPAL. After enrollment, lots will be drawn to determine participants.

The application window is open from March 20 2024, 12 pm, and will end April 2 2024, 12 pm.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent on April 3 2024.

Schedule: The first session will take place April 9 2024, 2:50-4:20 pm in SCH A105/P. Further dates and literature will be announced in the kick-off session. Students will receive further notifications via OPAL/E-Mail in advance.
