Synthesis and physical properties of quantum materials
TU Dresden | Sommersemester 2020
Synthesis and physical properties of quantum materials
The course will focus on the crystal growth and crystal chemical aspects of modern quantum materials (e.g. semiconductors, 2D materials, intermetallics). The following topics will be discussed: solid-state reactions, crystallization from the liquid and gas phase, typical structure types and alloy formation, crystal structures of covalent and ionic solids, closed-packed alloys, perovskite and spinels, Zintl phases, Laves phases, etc. Interrelation between structural and physical properties will be highlighted for each class of materials.
