Kurs Pronunciation Monday 15.30

Dear Students, Welcome to my online Pronunciation Course. There is a script needed for this course that you can get at Dietze Copy Shop (M -F 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). You can either pick this script up in person or you can send them an e-mail and they will ship it to you via the post. In this course you will be learning things to improve your English pronunciation. The first thing is IPA i.e. the International Pronunciation Alphabet (interactive online chart - please note that you can already use it even if it does not fully load). This will enalbe you to recognize the pronunciation of unfamiliar words accurately.  There will be a lot of possibilities to practice using IPA. You will also learn about strong and weak forms as relates to how a word or phrase is pronounced. Further, there is work on syllable stress i.e. what part of a word or phrase is stressed/unstressed. Some exercises deal with looking at what is similar and what is different (Odd One Out). This will deal with recognizing what is similar in sound or number of syllables or part of word accented.  Except for the very obvious exercises where you are asked to identify sound/words a key is provided to aid you in checking your work.
