Theory and Practice
This is a master's level module for students of MWIW, MBWL and IBRE, consisting of a weekly lecture and three day-long workshops.
Assessment is based on an exam at the end of the semester (50 %) as well as wrriten assignemnts submitted before and after each workshop (50%). Students pass the course if they have at least a pass (4,0) in the exam and in each of the assignments. In addition, attendance at the workshops is a prerequisite to taking the exam.
During the lectures, the theory of negotiation will be illustrated with examples and case studies. There will also be opportunities for the students to interact with each other and the lecturer. During the workshops, students will engage in negotiation roleplays and similations.
At the end of the module, students will be well grounded in the theory but will also, through preparation, practice, (peer-)feedback and self-reflection, have improved their abilities to negotiate in a variety of contexts.
