Organizational Questions:
- Q: Will the exam be written on computers or on paper?
- A: Please, see the Exam FAQ page on Opal. The exam will be conducted on computers in the FRIZ computer pools, rooms 1/B201 & 1/B202.
- Q: Do we have to bring our own computer on the day of the exam?
- A: No, you will use the PCs from FRIZ. We are just 30 registered students.
- Q: What is the weighting of theoretical knowledge in the exam?
- A: It is similar to the mock exam in the Opal course. We always keep the amount of "theory" constant.
- Q: Is it ok to write in my own words?
- A: Yes. Please write precise, short, grammatically correct sentences.
- Q: Is there a sample or mock exam available?
- Q: For some tasks, we need to calculate log base 2 (lb). Are we allowed to use a calculator to solve this?
- A: No. The tasks are designed in a way that there are no fractional results that you cannot calculate manually.
- Q: If the amount of theory questions will be the same as in the mock exam given on Opal, is it possible to complete the exam in 1 hour?
- Q: How about the grading. Is it relative or not?
- A: No. Grading is absolute based on the typical grading scheme: 95% -> 1.0 ... 50 % -> 4.0
- Q: Is this exam only for students who repeat?
- A: No, anybody can participate.
- Q: After how many days the results would be out?
- A: Within 4 weeks maximum.
- Q: Can you tell how much is the total points of the exam?
- A: There are around 30 points. Each fact or piece of information is worth 0.5 points.
- Q: If the question is worth 1 point, are we supposed to write the answer in a complete sentence? Or what should be the maximum length?
- A: Just look at how the gap looks. We expect the answer to be maximally as long as the size of the gap.
- Q: We wish the exam would be quite easy:)
- A: If you are able to solve the Tutorial tasks on your own and the tasks from older exams which you may have from the Fachschaftsrat, you will be well prepared 🏆
- Q: What is Fachschaftsrat?
- A: The Student Representatives for a particular faculty. Just look for FSR:IF, which are the student representatives for the computer science faculty. The top level student representatives for the entire university are called Studierendenrat (StuRa). For FSR:IF please see: https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/fsrif/home/
