Course Abstract

Climate change and the depletion of natural resources are the impetus for the complete utilization and recycling of all materials becoming a major goal for the entire world.

The transformation of waste into a resource is one of the most important directions of the circular economy, but the fight against the generation of waste is equally important . After all, in order to process secondary raw materials, you need to spend energy again.

Waste generated in the process of extraction, beneficiation, chemical and metallurgical processing, transportation and storage of minerals is a secondary raw material reserve of industry, construction and energy. A significant resource potential is also waste as secondary raw materials, which are the remains of final consumption products.

The high level of waste generation and the low rates of its use as secondary raw materials have led to the fact that in Ukraine, every year, significant volumes of solid waste are accumulated in the industry and communal sector, of which only a small part is used as secondary material resources, the rest ends up in landfills.

The difference between the waste situation in Ukraine and other developed countries lies in the large volume of waste generation and the lack of infrastructure for handling it. At the same time, the presence of such infrastructure is an indispensable feature of all economies of developed countries.

Ukraine’s natural resources are strategically important. First of all, they are needed for economic development in fields such as mining, the metallurgical sector, mechanical engineering, aerospace, shipbuilding as well as in the petroleum and energy industry, etc. Natural resources can ensure to increase the country’s independence of external energy suppliers.

The annual increase in the volume of accumulated waste brings quite significant losses to the national economy. The development and implementation of innovative technologies for the processing of waste already accumulated on the territory of Ukraine is a very urgent issue for the development of the country's economy and, in particular, the modern circular economy.

Integrated use of passing minerals as well as mineral raw materials obtained from the waste of the primary processing (enrichment) are essential elements to optimize the functioning of the resource base within the overall strategy for the rational use of mineral resources, beginning with the stage of mineral exploration and ending with the stages of processing and use.

Following mentioned above principles when setting the volume to cover the current needs, current conditions of the supply and demand for raw materials in the region, similar passing minerals, and made of it products are taken as the initial ones.

For solution of the mentioned tasks  foundations of the integrated development of mineral deposits should be created as well as an effective technology of selective extraction and storage of passing minerals have to be developed.
