The robots are coming: Evaluating the economics of generative AI
TU Chemnitz | Wintersemester 2023 / 2024
Seminar (Winter Term 2023/24): The robots are coming
Evaluating the economics of generative AI
Generative AI is a branch of artificial intelligence that can create new content, such as images, text, music, or speech, from data. Large language models are a type of generative AI that can produce natural language texts on various topics and domains. Large language models have many applications, such as summarizing, translation, dialogue, and content generation. They are already being used to create texts as diverse as newspaper articles, scientific papers, financial disclosure statements, marketing, as well as writing software. However, large language models also pose some challenges and risks, such as reliability and factual correctness. How can we ensure that the texts generated by large language models are accurate, consistent, and trustworthy? How can we measure and improve the quality and credibility of the generated texts? How can we avoid or mitigate the negative impacts of misinformation, bias, and plagiarism? In this seminar, you will have the opportunity to experiment with writing different texts with generative AI tools. You will also learn how to critically evaluate the generated texts in terms of their strengths and weaknesses, such as readability, coherence, originality, relevance, trustworthiness, and ethics. At the end of the seminar, you will submit a thesis that analyzes and compares the pros and cons of the texts generated by generative AI.
