Students become aware that of particular relevance in the context of modern industry, as they gain hands-on experience with metal cutting machine tools and learn to troubleshoot common problems and optimize machining operations.
LEARNING OUTCOMES / COMPETENCIES:
• Identify and explain the fundamental principles of metal cutting processes, including cutting tools, cutting fluids, and workholding devices.
• Operate metal cutting machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, and drill presses, safely and efficiently.
• Analyze and troubleshoot common problems in metal cutting processes, such as tool wear, vibration, and dimensional inaccuracies.
• Apply problem-solving skills to optimize machining operations, including tool selection, feed rates, and coolant selection.
