We have a strategic plan: It’s called doing things!
Do you have a visionary idea but no idea how to start making it a reality? Do you want to learn how to get projects done? How to prioritize work, coordinate with people and get them on board? Do you want to be part of a project that could shape the future of Chemnitz?
My program next semester is your opportunity to gain hands on experience while developing a vision that reaches far beyond the usual study curriculum.
Context
Reichenhainer Str. 41, the current building where the math faculty is located, is not only in dire straits but it was never designed to be an academic building to begin with, its architecture being an impediment to interaction and thereby scientific progress. There is an urgent need for renovation, or much better, a replacement. However, money is in short supply and both the state and the university have many competing priorities.
The project
Over the course of the next semester I want to rework some of my existing ideas regarding campus design into a concept for a new building in Chemnitz that integrates both research and industry creating a hotspot for innovation.
The goal is to convince private donors to sponsor this unique concept in the heart of one of Germany’s economically most struggling region to kickstart a positive feedback loop of growth and innovation.
Program Plan
Together with you I want to develop a project description and a pitch deck to then use these to approach wealthy individuals and companies, to collect a minimum of 15Mio€ in donations. As part of my team you will get first hand experience on how to approach a challenge and how to proceed to make a bold vision a reality.
Sign up now for a wild ride of a semester. The team will hold regular weekly meetings on Monday evening 6pm to 7pm. There is also the possibility to hold one or two retreats during the semester to work in the team for an extended period of time.
Let’s make this happen.
