2025 Advanced Scientific Seminar - Nuclear and Particle Physics

TU Dresden | Sommersemester 2025 2025 Advanced Scientific Seminar - Nuclear and Particle Physics

Next Generation Particle Physics Experiments

Thursday 11h10 - 12h40

Room: BZW/A120

Instructor: Prof. A. Straessner

The topic of this Advanced Scientific Seminar are the Next generation experiments in particle physics.

Each participating student shall prepare an oral presentation of 45 minutes. In the seminar talk, the physics motivation and general particle physics context, the experimental techniques, and the expected scientific results shall be presented.

IMPORTANT: An organisational meeting will take place on the first seminar date, on Thursday, April 10, at 11h10 in room BSW A120. In this organisational meeting, the seminar topics and presentation dates will be distributed.

The following topics are suggested:

  • Lepton-flavor violation search with COMET
  • The axion helioscope IAXO
  • Exploration of the hidden sector with SHIP
  • Lepton-flavour violation search with Mu3e
  • Physics at the High-Luminosity LHC with upgraded experiments
  • Experiments and physics at the Future Circular Collider (FCC)
  • Neutrino physics with DUNE
  • Dark matter search with XLZD/DARWIN
  • Dark matter search with DELight
  • Gravitational wave detection in space: LISA
  • Gravitational wave detection underground: Einstein Telescope
  • Axion search with MADMAX
  • QED tests with LUXE
  • Neutrino mass measurement with KATRIN and KATRIN++
  • Neutrinoless double beta decay with LEGEND

Other interesting topics may also be proposed.
