MHSE12_Watershed Management I (SoSe 2026)
The module aims to develop the students' competence for integrated watershed management. The process of management will be introduced and discussed. Methods of data collection and analysis, the estimation and forecast of water resources availability as well as methods to determine the water demand side are introduced. The fundamentals to dimension and simulate reservoirs and flood protection measures are explained using hands on examples. Concepts and requirements of integrated flood protection are discussed. The basics of decision support systems are imparted to provide a more holistic approach of watershed management. Concepts of eco hydraulic modelling are introduced in this context.
The students know the main problems and procedures of integrative watershed management to balance water supply and water demand. They can apply basic techniques of data acquisition and data analysis, as well as techniques to dimension and simulate reservoirs.
