Problem | When working in teams, the participants often provide different contributions. How can those efforts be evaluated as possibly fair and objective, giving every participant a suitable grade? |
---|---|
Framework | The team effort has to be evaluated. |
Solution |
The result or rather the effort of the teamwork has to be evaluated by the lecturer. Thereby it is important to communicate the rating system to all participants at the beginning. To ensure a fair and objective rating, the following three components have to be taken into consideration: The rating of the team result and the self-assessment of the team will be weighted with 70% of the final result. Hence the individual assessment done by the lecturer will be worth 30%. The described amount of points will be charged with the individual rating by the lecturer, which equals 30% of the final mark. This means Alfons received 85 points for the team result including the self-assessment, but receives 90 points from the lecturer. Accordingly Alfon's final result makes 70% x 85 + 30% x 90 = 86.5 points. |
