2023-08_Continued: 7 Billion Chances - Sustainable Development Goals Transforming Our World?

TU Dresden | Wintersemester 2017 / 2018 2023-08_Continued: 7 Billion Chances - Sustainable Development Goals Transforming Our World?
SDG-three letters that stand for the hope of transforming our world for the better: written in a process involving civil society and adopted by the United Nations the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) finally came into force on 1 January 2016. Since we do not have a planet B (at least not yet), global sustainability has got to be our plan A. This is the task of our generation.

In the summer semester, some of the of the aspirational goals were already examined. Now we continue with more, including ending hunger and poverty, protection of the oceans, achieving quality education and ensuring health. But although this agenda 2030 is supposed to apply universally to all countries it is not legally binding. Is this agenda self-consistent? Do the goals have a positive effect on political as well as personal decision-makings? And why is Germany a developing country regarding the SDGs?
Together we want to find out what this means on a global and local scale and in our minds. That is why the lecture series will, in addition to „classical“ talks, include a variety of formats like a science café, open discussions and much more. So there will be plenty of room for questioning world views and self-reflection.
To participate, no prior knowledge is needed!

The United Nations University (UNU-FLORES Dresden) is involved as a partner. The lectures will be held in english.
