2020/2021 WiSe FOMT 1.2 Forest Related Development Policy and Culture

The aim of this course is to get familiar with the basics of charge particle optics, thereby laying the foundations of modern applications. Special emphasis will be put on the formulation of charge particle optics within the framework of the modern, geometrical approach to mechanics (i.e., employing symplectic forms and morphisms, Hamiltonian fluxes, etc.). The following topics will be covered: electric and magnetic fields in charge particle optics, Hamiltonian equations of motion, paraxial approximation, aberrations, ray tracing, wave optics, basic CPO elements (round lens, quadrupole, sector magnetic), modern applications.
