As part of the module Landscape and Open Space Planning (UWMRN 2.5), the Urban Ecology seminar will be organized by Marzan Tasnim Oyshi and Dr. Claudia Cruickshank from the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IÖR).
The seminar explores current topics in urban ecology, green infrastructure, climate adaptation, landscape and open-space development, and sustainable urban environments, connecting research with questions relevant to planning and practice.
Students can explore a broad range of approaches from established methods in urban ecology and landscape planning, working with scientific literature and planning documentation, to spatial data analysis, visualization, and reproducible research, as well as more exploratory and future-oriented approaches to understanding and communicating complex environmental challenges.
The seminar welcomes students from different disciplinary and technical backgrounds. Project directions can be adapted to individual interests, and prior programming experience is not required.

The seminar will be offered in German and English.
