212000-311 Oberseminar - Advanced Functional Materials - WiSe 2023/24

This Oberseminar for AFM Master students focuses on physics-related topics in the synthesis, fabrication, characterization, integration and application of advanced functional materials. In the winter term 2023/24 major focus will be on basic concepts of materials science which enable or impede specific material functionalities. 

Enrolment for this course is open until October 26.

The seminar is scheduled for Mondays, 17:15h - 18:45h and starts on October 9, 2023.

The first four sessions on October 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th will collect the plenum of all participants in video format on

During these first three sessions (October 9 to 30) we familiarize ourselves with the goals and the basics of fruitful seminar work and the preparation of seminar presentations. We discuss the overarching topics of interest and form topical groups of participants. We will address also technical aspects such as searching for complementary literature in the preparation phase and on structuring the 20 minute presentation with the help of the university's presentation template.

In November we will meet in smaller groups and discuss about the individual presentations.

From November 27th on we will start with the oral presentations on the topics selected by the participants and have the subsequent discussions in the plenum. From November till the end of the seminar there will be time for consultations on Tuesdays 11-13 and Wednesdays 8-9 such that there is sufficient time to include feedback from the consultation into the presentation.
