Low-temperature physics of quantum materials
Low-temperature physics of quantum materials
In this lecture, we will study the physics of fundamental quantum phenomena like Bose-Einstein condensation, Fermi liquid and superfluidity occurring in condensed matter systems at low temperature. We will also focus on different bulk experimental techniques used in low-temperature labs and what they can tell us.
The lecture takes place every Tuesday at 11.10 o'clock in the room Rec/D16. The first lecture is on Tuesday Oct. 24th.
The goal of the lecture is to present modern spectroscopic methods with examples (e. g. in the area of magnetism). The methods presented are: photoelectron spectroscopy, x-ray spectroscopy, neutron scattering, magnetic resonance techniques, Mössbauer spectroscopy, optical spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, tunneling spectroscopy.
