The module "Academic and Scientific Work" is a compulsory module for students of the Master's program Nanoelectronic Systems (NES) in the 3rd semester. It consists of three courses:
- Paper Reading Group "Seminal Discoveries & Developments" (Device fundamentals - the physical point of view, 36 slots),
- Nanoelectronic Systems Design Student Conference (Circuit design related topics, 32 slots),
- Photonic Devices Group (Introduction of optical principles and devices and their CMOS integration, 15 slots),
where ONE OF THEM has to be attended.
The introduction for ALL THREE courses will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 11:10 in BAR/0213/H. Subscription to the courses on OPAL will open on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, 18:00 and will close Monday, October 20, 2025, 23:59.
Upon completion the participants should possess key competences in academic and scientific work, in particular in understanding and conveying scientific contents. The workload is 120 hours (4 credit points).
After completing this module, students have the key competencies for the academic and scientific work. You can deal critically with scientific texts or pass on their knowledge to other people and support their learning process. This includes the understanding of the essential content of scientific texts, their classification in the current scientific context, the critical reflection of social, economic and cultural impact as well as their representation and presentation. To stimulate the development of knowledge among learners and to enable, the students have acquired knowledge from the general university teaching and can apply this.
