3. CALL - Computer-Assisted Language Learning
In this class, students will be exposed to commercial and free e-learning websites and critically evaluate them. Furthermore, they will create a language learning website of their own, using the free software HotPotatoes and a front-end programming software, e.g. Kompozer, NVU, or BlueMonkey.
They will present their assessment of an existing elearning website by means of a handout and a demonstration from the teacher's computer via data projector. On the basis of this presentation, classmates will then try out the features of the website presented first-hand.
In the second half of the seminar, students will work individually on their own projects, using the peer input around.
The class will conclude with a final exam.
