WiSe 2024/2025_ Ukrainian for Beginners
Ukrainian is an East Slavic language spoken by approximately 50 million people in Ukraine and around the world. Whether you have a personal connection to Ukraine, an interest in Slavic languages, or simply a curiosity to explore a new language, we invite you to join the Institute of Slavic Studies for our "Ukrainian for Beginners" course. This course requires no prior knowledge and is taught entirely in English.
In this course, you will be introduced to the Ukrainian alphabet, the basics of grammar, and the essential vocabulary needed to start communicating in Ukrainian. The course is designed to develop your proficiency in all four key language skills: writing, reading, listening, and speaking. You will engage with a variety of learning materials, including texts, dialogues, and audio-visual resources, to build a strong foundation in the language.
As you progress, you will learn how to introduce yourself, talk about your friends and family, describe appearances, discuss your home and hobbies, and even share your favorite foods. Additionally, the course will provide you with insights into Ukrainian culture and everyday life. You will explore Kyiv, the vibrant capital of Ukraine, and discover fascinating cultural and historical facts that will enrich your understanding of the country.
